Among the local sheep breeds, merino wool is the softest with a fiber fineness of 16.5 to 24 microns. Since 1947, the Höfer sheep wool spinning mill in the Rosenheimer Land region has specialized in processing this local raw wool. The family-run business now has 15 employees and sources its wool from local sheep farms - the largest of which looks after a flock of around 600 merino sheep. The sheep are sheared twice a year and the wool is then sorted by color, washed and spun in the spinning mill. The Steinbeck weaving mill in Memmingen, Swabia, uses it to weave these blankets. No chemical treatment is used at all.

Merino wool comes in several natural shades, from white to gray to brown. These blankets are also kept in these shades. Before spinning, the wool is sorted by color so that only natural, i.e. undyed and unbleached wool can be used. The blanket is woven as a double face and therefore has different colors on the top and underside: Two weft threads in slightly different colors are used for the lighter side, creating a light melange tone. The darker side is woven with one weft insert and is therefore plain-colored.
The blanket also has a special feature: At 150 × 210 centimetres, it is particularly large, ideal for snuggling up under on the sofa (for an afternoon snooze).
