When Gisela and Detlef Menard founded their own company in 1981, the focus was still on the sale of antique-style jewelry. To achieve this, Ménard harmoniously brought together craftsmanship, functionality and design. The clasps of the necklaces and bracelets, for example, are not just a necessary constructive evil, but in their simultaneously simple and effective design are in part pieces of jewelry in their own right. It is no wonder that Ménard has registered them as designs. Almost a trademark are the necklaces and bracelets made of the colorful Murano glass beads, which come from the lagoon island near Venice, famous for its glass art. And of course Ménard also processes classic jewelry materials such as pearls.

The idea of sustainability also plays a major role at Ménard. Thus, one relies on the location of Germany due to the high labor and social standards, short transport routes and technical expertise: the silver clasps come from the gold city of Pforzheim, stones are processed in the gemstone city of Idar-Oberstein. It is worth noting that Ménard works specifically with precious metal refineries that use only recycled silver and gold. Environmentally friendly packaging material rounds off the holistic concept.
