If this pendant light reminds you of the Bauhaus, you are not entirely wrong - even if its origins predate it. The inspiration for the shapes of the lighting elements was the "Triadic Ballet", co-developed by the later Bauhaus master Oskar Schlemmer, which was premiered in 1922 and performed again in 1923 as part of the Bauhaus exhibition in Weimar. The triad of the ballet, which is reflected in the costumes of the so-called figurines, is based on basic shapes (circle, square, triangle) - a characteristic that is still associated with the Bauhaus today.

In this luminaire, cylinders, hemispheres, discs and cones are carefully turned from solid ash wood and combined to form a "figurine luminaire". The bodies are oiled, which not only cares for and protects the wood, but also highlights its natural color and grain. Their arrangement can be changed (with the exception of the lower cylinder containing the socket), resulting in different silhouettes of the luminaire. Light is provided by a glass LED lamp with a decent twelve centimetre diameter.

Marzipan and Thomas Mann are two "export hits" that almost everyone associates with the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Schneid Studio, run by Niklas and Julia Jessen, could well join this illustrious circle. They produce well thought-out products with a calm, natural design language. They are visually and tactilely convincing utilitarian objects in the best sense of the word, which literally enrich everyday life - and will do so for a long time to come - thanks to their production that is beyond reproach and successful design. The company's headquarters also match the craftsmanship: Schneid Studio works in the old training workshop of the former Lübecker Maschinenbau Gesellschaft (LMG) - a real piece of industrial history.
