Originally from Persia, the British brought the paisley pattern from India to Europe, where it quickly became very popular. It takes its name from the Scottish town of Paisley, which produced large quantities of textiles with the pattern in the 19th century. In a way, Moismont has brought it back to India. The hand-printed fine cloth is made of pure, skin-friendly cotton. Its edges are hemmed and the Moismont lettering is printed in a matching color.

Martine and Jacques Bijvoet are behind the Moismont label, which is based in Picardy, France. With their fashion, the two are committed to authenticity, traditions and values. It is therefore not surprising that their scarves and stoles, garments and bags combine French textile design and traditional Indian weaving. After all, the original scarf (which we understand to be worn more like a stole) once found its way from the Indian subcontinent to Europe. And this shawl culture is still very much alive in India today: Yarn dyeing, weaving and printing techniques are passed down from generation to generation there - in three carefully differentiated professions, each of which possesses and guards its own unique know-how.
