If you have the yellow-orange or red fruits of large cacti in mind when you think of prickly pears, you've come to the right place. The fruits of the prickly pear cactus "Opuntio ficus-indica", originally native to Mexico, are part of classic Mexican cuisine, and the oil from the seeds of the sweet and sour tasting prickly pears can also be used in dishes. Thanks to its valuable ingredients, however, it is used even more frequently in cosmetics. For all those who like to use skin oils anyway, prickly pear seed oil is not a new discovery - for us it is one that we are happy to share with you. The oil feels very pleasant on the skin, is quickly absorbed and leaves the skin feeling velvety and nourished.

Prickly pear seed oil contains a lot of linoleic acid, which supports the skin barrier and thus protects against moisture loss. Active plant substances (so-called phytosterols) help to maintain the skin's elasticity and resilience, thus preventing fine lines and wrinkles. Flavonoids promote skin regeneration. Vitamins E and C act as antioxidants: they bind free radicals, which can prevent premature skin ageing. This makes the oil ideal for use as anti-ageing care - even for blemished and stressed skin. This is because prickly pear seed oil is non-comedogenic, which means that it does not clog the pores, but can even have a balancing effect and help to regulate sebum production and refine the skin's appearance. It is therefore also very suitable for oily and blemish-prone skin. However, very sensitive, dry and combination skin can also benefit from this anti-ageing oil. Vitamin C also supports the collagen structure and helps to even out skin pigmentation.

The prickly pear seed oil from Argand’Or comes from controlled organic cultivation in Morocco. It is gently cold-pressed from the seeds of prickly pear fruits so that all the ingredients are retained. Around 400 kilograms of fruit flesh are needed to produce one liter of prickly pear seed oil, from which the seeds are first separated. After washing, the small kernels dry in the open air, exposed to the sun and wind alone. The oil is obtained by gentle cold pressing and then only filtered to remove suspended particles. Filled into light-protecting black glass bottles, the valuable ingredients of the natural oil are preserved.
