Red Swedish Table Napkin (2 pieces)
Swedish Table Linen. Christmas is coming...
Ekelund, a family business from the Swedish town of Horred, south of Gothenburg, is one of the oldest weaving companies in Scandinavia. The quality of its goods impressed the Swedish royal family over one hundred years ago – and since then Ekelund has been a supplier to the royal court. These Christmas tablecloths, runners and napkins are proportioned, in other words, woven with a circumferential pattern and in the respective width so that the long sides have smooth selvedge edges. The red Christmas table linen goes back a long way: the jacquard, typically Scandinavian star pattern is probably over 200 years old and has been woven at Ekelund for many decades. The deep red warp determines the basic colour, the contrasting pattern is created by the undyed linen yarn in the weft. The jacquard pattern of the black table linen is also inspired by traditional patterns in Nordic textile craftsmanship. The table linen is made of a half linen quality, and is robust, hard-wearing and shape-retaining. The warp is made of a cotton yarn (yarn count Nm 20/2), the weft linen (yarn count Nm 30). Ekelund sources its linen yarn from France and Belgium, two countries that produce the best flax qualities.
