Pleasantly simple in design, reliably functional in use: this glasses case is made of non-slip, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather, while the lining is made of supple goatskin leather that provides soft protection for the contents. Both leathers are also stitched with a carefully placed topstitch, which also adds a subtle visual accent. The case is closed with a press stud.

Leather spectacle cases owe their protective stability to the strength of the selected leather and the fact that a wet piece of leather formed on a hot metal mandrel hardens and then retains its shape. They are often even superior to cases made of harder materials, as the leather does not lose its flexibility to a certain extent and cannot break.

There is no doubt that leather is an ideal material for a spectacle case. As soon as the wet leather, molded over a heated piece of metal, hardens again, it retains its shape - even if, like any natural material, it becomes softer over time. This does not affect its protective function, and leather cases are often even superior to cases made of harder materials, as the leather does not lose its flexibility to a certain extent and cannot break. Thanks to its natural strength, the leather can protect the contents well, and thanks to its suppleness, neither the corners nor edges of the glasses become dangerous.

Wanny Di Filippo, a true Florentine original who is fashionably committed to "cheerful anarchy", founded Il Bisonte in Pontassieve in 1970. The municipality belongs to Florence, the "cradle of the Renaissance". The metropolis on the Arno, famous (not only) for its masterpieces of fine art, also owed its rise to traditional crafts, above all textile production (wool and silk fabrics) and leather processing. To this day, leather manufacturers are part of the Tuscan city's identity-forming craft landscape - and Il Bisonte is also part of this tradition.

The workshop became famous for its leather goods, the production of which consistently follows the traditional art of craftsmanship. Away from fast-moving trends, the bags, purses and accessories impress with their stylish aesthetics, the natural beauty of the material, durability and repairability. Wanny Di Filippo has now retired from the business, but his philosophy lives on at Il Bisonte. Production facilities and supply chains are limited to a radius of 30 kilometers around Florence. The high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather, fine fabrics and metal accessories that Il Bisonte uses are therefore produced exclusively in Tuscany. Skilled master craftsmen produce leather goods whose quality, from the design to the handmade stitching, tells the glorious story of Florentine craftsmanship.
