A surface-mounted spotlight is so called because it is installed on the surface (surface-mounted spotlight) and provides directed light there (spotlight). In contrast to recessed spotlights, which are integrated into a surface, surface-mounted spotlights are therefore completely visible. This clear, linear model was designed by the internationally renowned architect and industrial designer Knud Holscher, who studied under Arne Jacobsen and considers functionality, simplicity and quality to be the guiding principles of his designs. The surface-mounted spotlight he designed in 1987 comes with a simple cylindrical porcelain body in which a recessed reflector lamp with a GU10 socket (not included) provides light.

With its excellent insulating properties and resistance to aging, porcelain is still the material of choice for lamp holders and fixtures for outdoor and bathroom lighting. These porcelain lamps are manufactured in southern Sweden at Ifö Electric - a company that specialized in ceramic components as early as 1887 and is now one of the leading producers of ceramic fittings.
