In this graceful table lamp, a design from 1953, the light from the light source hidden in a kind of cup-shaped container made of sheet steel radiates downward to a small extent, but mainly upward, where it is partially reflected from the inside white painted, plate-shaped shade. The graceful three-legged frame made of brass tubing ends above the shade in a handle by which the lamp can be transported from A to B.

Actually, the French lighting manufacturer SAMMODE subscribes to products that are used wherever it is too hot, too cold, too dusty, too wet or even explosive for ordinary lights - in industrial plants, laboratories, cold storage rooms and in all outdoor areas, but also in museums and libraries. Because the special aesthetics of the tubular luminaires, made of glass or polycarbonate depending on the application and encapsulated with stainless steel, also aroused the desire of architects and interior designers, SAMMODE has also been focusing on luminaires for the residential sector for several years. After initially domesticating mainly tubular luminaires and repurposing or reconstructing them into wall and ceiling luminaires, the company set out for new (old) shores in 2019 and ventured to reissue some luminaires by the distinguished French mid-century designer and interior designer Pierre Guariche, whose spectacular designs feature 1950s-typical, sometimes floral, sometimes spaceship-like design elements. The lights are manufactured in Châtillon-sur-Saône in the Vosges Mountains, where SAMMODE was founded in 1927 as the "Société d'Application des Méthodes Modernes d'Éclairage électrique."
