General Information
The package contains:
'Rouge de Marmande '
This historic beefsteak tomato from France has been in cultivation since around 1925 and stands out clearly from other varieties with its heavily furrowed, flat-round, irregularly shaped fruits. The multi-chambered tomatoes have a strong aroma and are particularly suitable for vegetable dishes, soups and sauces. The variety is one of the high-yielding, early-ripening pole tomatoes for the greenhouse or in protected open ground. Another special feature is its adaptability to cooler climates, its health and robustness.
'Wapsipinicon Peach '
This North American beefsteak tomato is a selection of the White Peach from 1890 and is therefore also known as 'White Peach', as the creamy white to light yellow fruits have a slightly downy, velvety skin reminiscent of peaches. The initially clearly recognizable greenish stripes fade as they ripen. The tomatoes are extremely juicy and sweet and aromatic, medium-sized but relatively heavy, and are ideal for salads and vegetable dishes. The plants should be grown protected from rain.
'Date Wine Tomato '
The 'Date Wine' is an old, robust cocktail tomato that is known for its particularly high yield and attractive, eye-catching fruits. Up to 100 small, pear-shaped, golden-yellow fruits grow on each of the large, umbel-like panicles. With a mildly sweet, fruity and aromatic flavor, they are ideal for snacking (especially popular with children) or as a beautiful decoration in salads. The variety is robust and highly resistant to blight, making it suitable for outdoor cultivation.
'Slivowidnij '
A yellow cherry tomato with lush fruit clusters full of small, sweet and aromatic tomatoes. If not all the fruits have been eaten in summer, the entire fruit clusters can be harvested before the first frost and hung up for storage. The fruits will keep for weeks without drying out. The plant is tall-growing, with a considerable yield and thrives best in a greenhouse or protected under a roof.
'Marmorossa'
This Roma tomato is a real eye-catcher in the bed with its elongated, tapered fruits in red with yellow flaming. The fruits have firm yet juicy flesh and a delicious aroma. The variety is particularly suitable for sauces; the surplus from the summer can be preserved for the winter in this way. Recommended for protected outdoor cultivation.
'Voyage Tomato'
This quirky tomato, also known as 'Voyage', is an old variety from Central America that was traditionally used as food for travel. Due to its unique structure, it is possible to break off individual segments without the fruit losing much juice. This makes it an ideal snack for traveling or hiking even today; the mildly sweet taste with a pleasant acidic note does the rest. The plant grows well and produces good yields; it should be grown under a sheltered roof or in a greenhouse.
'De Berao'
This traditional variety from Russia is one of the ten best tomatoes in the world for outdoor cultivation, as it is highly resistant to late blight. In addition to this extraordinary robustness, its vigor is also worthy of mention: The plants can grow over 3 m tall. The aromatic, red, egg-shaped fruits are particularly suitable for preparing sauces, soups and for preserving.

- Good by tradition: tried and tested varieties
- Seedproof: suitable for reproduction
- Organically produced: according to Demeter guidelines
Among the numerous tomato varieties that are now fortunately back on the market, there is one group that is particularly worth recommending: the so-called country and home varieties. They have developed regionally and have proven themselves over many decades or even a century. This is possible because these varieties are seed-resistant and are not F1 hybrids, meaning that they pass on their good characteristics to the next generation year after year. This means that seeds can also be harvested in your own garden and sown again the following year or given as a gift.
Together with a seed company from Lower Saxony, we have put together a small assortment of seven such tried and tested varieties: They originate from North and Central America, Europe or Russia and delight with a wide variety of colors, shapes and flavors. The seeds are organically produced according to the strict guidelines of the Demeter Association. They are all vine tomatoes that grow to a height of 1.8-2.4 meters (and more) depending on their location. All are also suitable for growing in pots with a volume of 10 liters or more.
