Supima® is synonymous worldwide with the highest, finest quality of Pima cotton - it is one of the best extra-long staple cottons available. Only one percent of the cotton harvested worldwide reaches Supima® quality, of which only a few tons come from controlled organic cultivation. This cotton is normally used for fine outerwear or luxurious bed linen, but never for bath and terry products. These terry towels from the Swiss weaving mill Weseta are therefore truly exceptional and rare: they are woven from the same fine Supima® cotton from controlled organic cultivation. Organic cotton usually has a rather "stubbly" dry appearance, as it generally has short fibers. Supima® organically grown cotton, on the other hand, is supple and soft because it has very long fibers - in technical terms, this is called extra-long staple. Terry towels made from it are therefore extremely fine and soft, yet durable.

The GOTS-certified terry towels are rather light with an average basis weight of 400 g/sqm, yet very absorbent due to the extraordinary cotton quality with the extra-long fibers and their particularly high fibrillation - this is what the experts call the water drainage capacity. Not only do they dry faster than heavy terry towelling, but more towels can be put in the washing drum or tumble dryer. They also use less water during washing due to their lower volume and grammage. Weseta was able to secure a larger supply of the valuable, rare yarn, which means that the production of these terry towels is not possible indefinitely. The yarn is dyed in Switzerland; weaving and finishing take place at Weseta's company site in Sernftal in the Glarus region - and have been since 1864.
