Tower marble run beech wood
The natural play of forces
A tower made of solid beech wood, around which a marble run winds downwards, the windings of which are in turn equipped with flat funnels - the result is a fascinating play object that captures the attention. The marbles roll nimbly down the straight tracks, but on the base of the plate, which slopes gently down to the center, they circle leisurely, calmly turning round and round until they finally fall through the funnel hole onto the track below.
Again and again, the question arises as to which marble will pass through all the tracks and funnels the fastest and be the first to strike the three sound plates at the end of the track, thus claiming the victory fanfare for itself. Even if you throw the marbles in at the same time, the order of finish is unpredictable: When we tested the tower marble run extensively, we had to admit defeat to many an unexpected overtaking maneuver. Of course, several players can throw in their marbles at the same time to compete, but it is not speed that is so fascinating, but the deliberateness with which the marbles circle in the plates. The natural play of forces - such as gravity, kinetic energy, friction - becomes visible here and teaches the players to follow a "course" as spellbound as they are patient. Meanwhile, the tower marble run stands stably on a strong base made of birch plywood and does not allow itself to be knocked off balance even by spirited throw-ins.
