The term "icon" may often be used too hastily, but in this case we can say it loudly and unabashedly: The Ulm stool is undisputedly one of the icons of furniture design. The original was designed in 1955 by Max Bill, a Bauhaus student and rector of the Ulm School of Design at the time, in collaboration with Hans Gugelot and Paul Hildinger. Three wooden planks connected by finger joints to form a U shape and stabilized on the open side by a round crossbar - a solid construction could hardly be more minimalist or versatile in its uses, whether as a seat, side table, shelf or carrying aid for books and the like.

And while its areas of use regularly open up new perspectives, the Ulm stool itself is also being given a new look. While the original was made from spruce planks and beech wood sticks - also available from us in this original material - we are now expanding our range to include a solid walnut version, which may appear a little more elegant to some aficionados. The simple, stable construction has remained the same and this stool is manufactured in Germany.
