The paisley pattern takes its name from the town of the same name in Scotland, where large quantities of textiles with this pattern were produced in the 19th century. However, it originated in Persia, from where it came to India. It was there that the British discovered it and brought it to Europe. Moismont brought the paisley pattern back to India with this cloth. The fine, hand-printed cloth is made of light, flowing silk. Its edges are hemmed and the Moismont lettering is printed in a matching color.

Martine and Jacques Bijvoet are behind the Moismont label, which is based in Picardy, France. With their fashion, the two are committed to authenticity, traditions and values. It is therefore not surprising that their scarves and stoles, garments and bags combine French textile design and traditional Indian weaving. After all, the original scarf (which we understand to be worn more like a stole) once found its way from the Indian subcontinent to Europe. And this shawl culture is still very much alive in India today: Yarn dyeing, weaving and printing techniques are passed down from generation to generation there - in three carefully differentiated professions, each of which possesses and guards its own unique know-how.
