We have always been impressed by the fact that Werkhaus products are practical, well thought-out, stable and durable. So when we were looking for a small, inexpensive step stool, we first looked there and of course found what we were looking for. The model convinced us and at the same time gave us the idea that it could also be used upside down as a basket. All it (or we) needed for better handling were the handles. Together with Werkhaus, we therefore took a closer look at the step stool - and found a simple solution: Recesses on the sides now serve as handle slots. This makes it easier to carry the stool in its function as a basket or pull it out of the shelf.

We particularly like this dual function: if the small piece of furniture is primarily used as a step stool for the children, it can later be converted into a basket for hairdryers and brushes or other bathroom utensils. It can just as easily be used in the office as a footrest for the desk. And vice versa: used as a basket, you always have a step stool to hand in case children come to visit or you need to climb a step yourself. It is sturdy enough.

The individual parts are cut from multiplex boards - a composite of several layers of wood veneer glued together crosswise. These boards are very stable, dimensionally stable, extremely resilient and resistant to bending, making them ideal for furniture construction. The paint is applied twice, with an additional layer of UV varnish hardened under UV light to protect the wood and paint against impact and moisture. The step stool has no feet so that it can be used as a basket, but it is non-slip. It comes to you disassembled, but assembly is child's play: all you have to do is put the parts together and secure them on the outside with rubber rings. Because that's another thing we like about Werkhaus products: their simple construction principle, which requires no tools at all.

Werkhaus' intelligent design principle is amazingly simple and makes tools superfluous for assembly: The individual parts made of multiplex panels (birch) are cut to exact lengths using CNC machines. The parts are joined by inserting the grooved web on both sides of one panel through a slot in the second panel and fixing it on the outside with a rubber ring. The resulting products are lightweight, surprisingly stable despite the low material thickness, highly functional and can be dismantled and assembled at any time without great effort.

Thanks to the precise cutting of the multiplex boards and the clean machine processing, durable products of all kinds can be constructed - in addition to the classic Werkhaus storage furniture made of HDF boards - which would be much more time-consuming and therefore much more expensive to produce using carpentry methods. And, as if by chance, the visible plug-in connections made of web, groove and rubber rings also create a very unique design language. Werkhaus has been developing and manufacturing all of its products at its headquarters in Lower Saxony since the company was founded in 1992. They are delivered disassembled in individual parts and must or may (please delete as appropriate) be assembled by the purchaser.
