Solitary bees are wild bees that live alone and nest alone. You may be familiar with the mason bee or the sand bee. Both - and many other solitary bee species - fly to this nesting aid made of frost-resistant ceramic in the shape of a flower. The 48 nesting tubes of this wild bee house are arranged in a circle and their diameter is adapted to the different needs of the winged insects. The material also offers the animals a number of advantages. For example, the tube entrances are completely smooth - so there is no risk of injury from any sharp-edged or frayed components during approach and entry, as can occasionally be the case with nesting tunnels made of reed or wood.
