General Information
Round enjoyment. With a refreshing mint flavor
In addition to the pure aniseed flavor, Flavigny pastilles are also available in a delicately flavored version. Here they come in a classic variant that has long been popular thanks to its refreshing effect: with a mint flavor. The aniseed in the core is of course also included here.
It’s Not Just Emperors and Popes Who Fancy Aniseed Sweets.
Legend has it that it was none other than Julius Caesar who once brought aniseed sweets to France. And centuries later, Pope John VIII is said to have enjoyed them after consecrating the Flavigny Abbey. In any case, the records show that the monks in Flavigny produced the small, egg-shaped sweets since at least 1591. The monastery is no longer inhabited today; however, Troubat, a candy-making firm, continues to manufacture the sweets locally nearby and according to the old recipes. Each sweet contains one aniseed encased in an anise-flavoured sugar coating.
