Armchair B-9
General Information
The archetype of modern chair furniture: light, comfortable, with armrests - a design masterpiece. The curved shape, aesthetic reduction and material sustainability are as convincing today as they were at the beginning of the last century, when hardly any architect could get past the innovative "Viennese chair". Le Corbusier, for example, admired the bentwood chair, saying, "Never has been created more elegant and better in conception, more exact in execution, and more serviceable" He used the chair in many of his architectural designs. A cantilevered bracket of solid, steam-bent beech wood simultaneously forms the armrest and open backrest - screwed together without glue to the circular plywood seat, the sturdy chair consists of only six parts. Referred to in the literature as B-9, the chair is universal and timeless, the enthusiasm for the processing technique evident. The shape of the iconic chair varies slightly over the years. Our version is made in Poland using the classic bending technique and regional woods. The bentwood factory in Radomsko originated at the end of the 19th century.
