Belt knife with leather handle
French tradition. Hunting knives.
In the old knife town of Thiers in Auvergne, the forge Wildsteer is a young company. Since 2004 only, they have specialized in the manufacture of outdoor and survival knives, new blade shapes and innovative manufacturing techniques tie in with the centuries-old blacksmithing tradition of the place. This knife is the best proof: a handy knife with a fixed, four-millimeter-thick blade made of corrosion-resistant Sandvik® steel - in other words, Swedish steel.
The steel is heated to temperatures of over 1,200 °C and forged in a high-precision mold, and the blade is then hardened and ground. It requires little care and should only be cleaned with clean water. The manufacturer recommends occasional resharpening with a fine grit diamond or ceramic grinder. Mixed tanned leather (chrome tanned in the middle and vegetable tanned on the outer sides) is artfully wrapped and tied around the continuous solid knife handle, the quiver, also leather, is worn on the belt.
