Boxes and balls felt
When a manufacturer convinces us, we like to be inspired by their product world for new ideas. Together with Gry & Sif we have developed this set of boxes and balls hand-felted from pure new wool, which with its soft feel and colorful design encourages educationally valuable free play. In this composition you get the set only with us.
The treasure at the end of the rainbow
At the end of the rainbow, as the Irish legend goes, you will find a pot full of gold and happiness. We cannot promise the gold for the rainbow colors of these boxes and balls, but you will find a treasure without fail: the playful, easy encouragement of your child, who is allowed to follow his natural urge to explore and thirst for knowledge and discover the world sensually, emotionally and cognitively in free play.
In the beginning, there is the impressive sensual perception: experiencing the hand-pleasing feel of the new wool, touching, grasping and freely handling the boxes and balls, which are adapted to the size of children's hands, looking at the many colors and color nuances ... This goes hand in hand with the promotion of motor and cognitive skills: Stack the boxes into towers or nest them inside each other, sort the balls into the matching color boxes or simply count them, put them in proportion to the number of boxes ... Whatever your child comes up with (and he will develop a lot of ideas) to do with the boxes and balls made of felt: your offspring will certainly not be bored.
Together with Gry & Sif we have put together this set hand-felted from pure New Zealand virgin wool. In the spirit of Maria Montessori's pedagogy, it fulfills all the qualities as a "learning material" and specifically focuses on free, creative play. It trains the ability to concentrate and playfully promotes fine motor and cognitive skills. The impressive spectrum of boxes and balls unites the colors of the rainbow and animates your child, as it were by itself, to recreate the rainbow (and to divide it into its components again).
And should your offspring ever tire of this fascinating game - which we assume only after a certain teenage age - you still have the option of including the colorful boxes and balls in the decoration of your interior: as another treasure at the end of the rainbow, so to speak.
A Fair Collaboration. Gry & Sif
During her backpacking tour through Nepal, the Dane Gry Staunstrup got to know the astonishing openness and warmth of the country’s inhabitants, and their craftsmanship bedazzled her. She was able to observe in detail how adeptly and skilfully Nepalese women felted wool into a wide variety of objects. Staunstrup felt it was time to make something good out of the untapped potential, and an idea was born: to combine Nepalese handicrafts with Danish design. And the idea was immediately followed by action.
The company Gry & Sif started producing a variety of products made of wool felt in Nepal in 2000. The designs created by Gry Staunstrup are as remarkable as they are understated and, characteristic of Danish design, at the same time fresh and merry. Nepalese women turn them into products employing traditional handicrafts. Fair Trade certified by now, Gry & Sif stands for fair wages and working conditions, environmentally conscious production and transparency. The company exclusively sources pure new wool from New Zealand sheep for the felting; each of the resulting products is handmade and unique.
