Cabinet knife block "Messerbrett"

This is how you solve (space) problems. Years of fiddling, testing and trial fitting on the kitchen cabinet door preceded this original product: a cabinet knife block also called "knife board" made of oiled beech wood. Up to five kitchen knives and a sharpening rod for possible re-sharpening of the blades can be stored in it and disappear behind the door of the wall cabinet without any fuss. That's because this knife block is actually as flat as a cutting board and therefore takes up (virtually) no space. Built-in ventilation slots also ensure good rear ventilation, so that there is no risk of rust even for blades made of carbon steel.
The brilliant idea came to a carpenter from Swabia while he was looking for a space-saving way to safely store his kitchen knives. Since then, the accomplished craftsman has not only repeatedly revised the designs for his knife block, measured kitchen cabinets, calculated clearances, and built numerous prototypes, but has so far also single-handedly taken care of the selection and processing of suitable wood. For example, he uses beech wood that comes from forests in the vicinity of his workshop, and takes drying, deposition and cutting into his own hands.
