Camel hair blanket

In praise of the camel, which he otherwise claims is the “most unlikeable, stupid, stubborn and awkward creature you can think of”, discerning old Brehm (his name a household word for popular zoological literature) must admit that the camel’s hair is a true gift from God, especially when refined by the textile arts. And that it is – at least in northern winters. It is exceptionally warming, lightweight, silky-shiny, and smooth while durable and long-lasting. We have this blanket made from it.

The manufacturer refrains from dying or bleaching the pure, natural camel hair and uses hair in a fibre fineness of 19 to 22 microns for this blanket. All steps – starting with the washing and combing, followed by spinning and weaving, up to the finishing – take place in Germany. The manufacturer increases the volume of the blankets by mechanically roughing the dense-woven fabric on both sides, whereby the surface turns soft and warm. You find the edges loop-stitched with wool yarn.
