Anyone who enjoys gardening in pots and planters knows that watering can be a challenge, especially during dry, hot periods—particularly in sunny spots on balconies and patios, where you might even have to water twice a day. This is because the soil dries out quickly—faster, at any rate, than in an open, possibly mulched garden bed—and once it’s dried out, it’s not so easy to re-moisten. The problem: completely dried-out soil hardens on the surface. As a result, the water runs off and spills over the edge of the pot instead of penetrating the soil, and the plant in the pot dies of thirst (the smaller the pot, the faster this happens). This is where our hand-formed clay watering flowers come into play. Fired at low temperatures and featuring an unglazed—and therefore water-permeable—tip, they are the perfect—and, not least, extremely decorative—aid for managing watering in (large) containers. With their help, you no longer water on top of the soil but directly into it—so the water isn’t wasted.

The watering flowers are inserted into the soil or buried up to the lower edge of the colored glaze. They absorb about 750 ml of water and release it gradually as the surrounding soil dries out. This reduces the risk of the plants drying out; in the best-case scenario, you won’t need to water them every day. All you have to do is decide—would you prefer a cornflower, a sunflower, or a marigold to adorn your pot garden?

Certain manufacturing steps are carried out by hand. Slight dimensional and color deviations may therefore occur.
