This hot water bottle cover is available in two checkered patterns: a slightly more subtle one in green, blue, and orange, and a cheerfully colorful checkered pattern—which is the same as the one used on Tweedmill’s colorful checkered virgin wool blanket. Each pattern is woven in a twill weave using dyed yarn. Tweedmill uses New Zealand virgin wool that is mulesing-free, as this practice is not used in New Zealand. The wool feels pleasantly soft to the touch—just right for a hot water bottle cover. To ensure it’s cozy all around, Tweedmill has designed the cover with a special closure similar to that found on hotel-style pillowcases. Like a little cap, a flap covers the hot water bottle’s valve.

Since 1971, the North Welsh weaving mill Tweedmill, located in Flintshire, has been crafting home textiles, outdoor blankets, and wool accessories. The collection ranges from soft tweed made of fine lambswool to traditional tartans and blankets made of New Zealand virgin wool, all the way to picnic blankets made of recycled wool. The designs are inspired by the colors of the Welsh countryside, forests, and coastline, but also surprise with bold hues and unexpected color combinations. They are primarily created by the company’s in-house designers, though the family-owned business also supports young creative talent: the family-owned business produces the winning designs from the annual Drapers Memorial Textile Prize in a separate collection.
