Cider jug stoneware
À la votre
Stoneware cools and keeps things fresh. So it's no surprise that the sparkling cider cider is commonly served in French crêperies in a stoneware jug rather than a glass bottle. This cider jug, with its impressively bulbous shape, comes in at a whopping two liters - just the right size to invite friends and family over for a Normandy- and Brittany-inspired evening of galettes complètes, camembert, and salted caramel, don't you think?
The design model for our cider jug also comes from France's north. The beautiful vessel is made in an area famous for its pottery: south of the Morvan Nature Park, where Burgundy ends and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region begins, lies the "Valley of Ceramics" (in French, "Vallée de la céramique"). The craftsmen at the Manufacture de Digoin, founded in 1875, are conscious of tradition and remember the old forms and production techniques. They even mix their own clay from ingredients sourced from other regions of France. Fired in the kiln at temperatures of around 1,250 °C, the clay is sintered through and the surface is thus smooth and sealed. To achieve the matte appearance and subtle roughened texture, a special glaze of coarse pigments is applied. Neutral in color, the cider jug matches many services and interior styles - certainly yours.
