Coccoina Paper Glue
With beguiling almond fragrance.
The tin emits a pleasant scent of bitter almond, which will remind older users of the corresponding German product, the formerly widely used "Pelikanol". Since the 1920s, these practical all-purpose glues for office and household use have been made on the basis of potato starch, and in Italy one of them has survived as "Colla bianca solida per ufficio moderno". Especially nice: the tin can has a small tube in the middle that holds a brush for applying the glue.
Signora Coccoina's rejuvenating cure.
Anyone who has kept one of these tins unopened in a cupboard for several years as a result of overestimating its value will have noticed that the mass gradually dries out into hard crumbs. This is no reason to despair, because the glue can be easily regenerated: simply let it swell overnight in the same amount of water, then heat it briefly and pour this mass back into the can. It then sticks (and smells) like new again.
