In the monastery smithy of Königsmünster Abbey in Meschede, Germany, the decorative plate and counter plate of these distinctive cufflinks are made of Damascus steel. The connecting joint is handmade of silver by a goldsmith associated with the monastery smithy and soldered on.

For the production of Damascus steel, two different steels are forged together in countless wafer-thin layers. Characteristic of the material is the so-called "water", that is, the gradients of the two starting materials visible on the surface.

Decorative disk 2 x 1 cm, weight approx. 8 g. 1 pair, in a small velvet pouch.

The decorative disk and counter disk of these cufflinks are made of Damascus steel and the linking joint is made of silver and soldered on subsequently. For Damascus steel two different types of steel are welded together in innumerable ultra-thin layers. The characteristic lines that show up where two basic materials come together are called "water" and are a feast for your eyes.
