In Sri Lanka, which is predominantly Buddhist, it is customary to bring a flower offering (pupphapuja) to the temple as a sign of respect and reverence. Flowers upon flowers, often lotus blossoms, are carried to the Buddha - when the blossoms begin to wither, they are disposed of by the priests. All the flowers? Not at all. Zero waste is the credo of the Danish company Lübech Living, which has entered into an agreement with a number of Sri Lankan temples. As a result, Lübech Living not only has waste paper processed as part of a women's initiative in Sri Lanka, but the flower offerings to be disposed of are also given a new purpose.

Flower by flower, leaf by leaf, is carefully plucked apart by hand and added to the pulp made from paper offcuts. The resulting discreet "Lotus Paper" is simple, yet robust, dimensionally stable and versatile, as is the case with these handmade decorative Easter eggs from the OOhh collection - and, en passant, two beliefs are harmoniously brought together: The (lotus) blossom as a Buddhist symbol of transience adorns the (Easter) egg as a Christian symbol of resurrection.
