General Information
Base, stand, reflector - the floor lamp SCHLIEPHACKE consists of a few very concise components. Its elementary appearance, this pure and self-evident form, makes the luminaire special. Originally, the lamp was designed for the furnishing of the rooms of the student union Eichkamp in Berlin-Grunewald. Because in this form of housing the spatial conditions were known to be cramped, Schliephacke created a universally applicable luminaire that can emit its light both directly and indirectly. SCHLIEPHACKE can be used as table lighting, next to the bed, sofa or as general room lighting.
The vertical part of the stand is in two parts, with the two aluminum spars connected by bolts in three places. The lower lamp arm can be placed upright between the spars and the bolts, or variably hooked between the bolts at an angle with grooves. The upper lamp arm is adjustable at the joint and lockable with a wing screw. The reflector can be rotated 360 °; the base plate is made of cast iron.
This floor lamp designed in 1959 by Fridtjof F. Schliephacke is produced on the occasion of the 60th anniversary in a limited edition of 250 pieces in the colors beige, gray, blue and red. Fine brass details adorn the lamps of the edition and an engraved brass ring on the bulb holder bears the serial number. Each luminaire comes with the book "Avantgarde of its Time - The Design Classics of Schliephacke and Ssymmank" by Nora Sobich and Martin Wallroth, which provides an impressive glimpse into the design history of Berlin in the 1960s with its numerous ambitious building projects and a lively, very distinct cultural scene. Here stood the lamp Schliephackes as a distinctive mark, virtually as a code, in some ways comparable with the black turtleneck sweater of French existentialism.
Socket E27 (max. 100 W). Grounding plug.
mawa
The brand identity of mawa, the luminaire manufacturer based on the outskirts of Berlin, comprises producing luminaires and lighting systems with innovative technologies and resourceful manufacturing processes. Designs that promise longevity are the main focus of mawa’s development and design department. One of the manufacturer’s primary concerns is to keep the consumption of resources in the production of luminaires in balance. From the first sketches to the prototypes ready for series production, luminaires by mawa are unique originals. Awarded with many design prizes, they grace museum collections all over the world. The brand’s small crew – with lighting enthusiast, founder, and doyen Martin Wallroth at the centre – has been a force to be reckoned with in the industry for years. They excelled in luminaire development (as represented in our range) as well as in lighting design for exhibitions, museums and trade fair stands. In all areas, mawa products are convincing in terms of design, material, finish, details, and lighting technology.
