    General Information

    Right warm feet

With this footbag made of soft, warming lambskin, cold feet are a thing of the past, even when sitting. Because where the hot water bottle reaches its limits, since it can warm the feet either only from above or from below, the fur foot bag is superior to it in several respects: it completely encloses the feet - like a muff the hands - and with them also the heat-insulating air stored in the fur. Because of its dense, soft wool fleece, lambskin is one of the warmest natural materials. It is also temperature balancing and can absorb a lot of moisture. When processed as a footbag, it therefore not only warms extraordinarily well, but also ensures a pleasant, balanced foot climate at the same time. And last, but not least: the skin-friendly fur stores body heat, so it doesn't require any energy, and since it is olive leaf tanned, it can theoretically be disposed of on the compost - but until that happens, you'll have to sit warm and cozy for quite a long time. But beware: with so much comfort, it's easy to forget the world (and your feet). To avoid slapstick interludes, we recommend, despite all the comfort before getting up, at least pull a foot out of the bag ...

Environmentally friendly, skin-friendly. Olive leaf tanned lambskin

The Hofbrucker tannery in the Bavarian Forest manufactures the foot bag from vegetable tanned lambskin. Only first-class skins from black-headed sheep are processed there. The lambskins are tanned in a purely vegetable way: with a tanning agent made from olive leaves. The bitter substances it contains not only protect the olive tree against pests and rot, but are also suitable as a tanning agent. For its extraction, only the olive leaves are used, which anyway accumulate during the annual pruning of the tree and would otherwise be burned. From them, a syrupy tanning agent is produced under food conditions, which could even be tasted if it were not so bitter. Finally, no other substances are needed for tanning, which is why it is one of the most environmentally friendly tanning processes of all. But also the skins tanned with it are absolutely harmless for humans and the environment. Since they are in addition very well tolerated by the skin, they are particularly suitable as bedding. The olive leaf tanned skins have a soft leather side and a very light, almost white wool coat, so are significantly lighter than most other tanned.

Family tradition since 1948. Natural skins from the Hofbrucker tannery

The Hofbrucker tannery in the Bavarian Forest is one of the few companies that still have a fully integrated production in Germany. From the processing of the rawhide to the confection and to control of the final product - everything is done under one roof. The family business has specialized in the tanning of sheepskins and lambskins. Only the best skins are hand-sorted on site and differentiated and assessed according to characteristics such as size, wool fineness, skin texture, wool height and preservation: After all, only excellent raw material can ultimately produce a top-quality product. Tanning and further processing are carried out with the utmost care and as gently as possible in order to preserve the high quality and natural aesthetics of the lambskins.
The same high standards apply to production as to the raw material, so that the manufacturing process is as sustainable as possible and as environmentally friendly as necessary. To this end, Hofbrucker invests in new technology, uses electricity from its own photovoltaic system and is planning its own wastewater treatment plant. For all its modernity, Hofbrucker upholds the traditional tanner's craft and passes on its knowledge to the next, now fourth, generation. This is how durable natural skins are created, which will give you pleasure for a long time with the right care.

    Note

For light soiling, the coat can be treated with a wool care product or hair shampoo in the affected areas, but the water should not penetrate through to the leather. In the case of heavier soiling, professional cleaning at the tannery is possible.
