From the Tiroler Steinschaf.
The mountain-dwelling Tiroler Steinschafis one of the oldest breeds ofsheep. To make these slippers, the stiff, resilient wool is processed withoutdyeing or bleaching, giving it a correspondingly„rebellious” feel.
If someone says “Patschen” in Austria, they’re most likely talking about theirslippers. Ours come from Gottstein, inImst, Austria. Since 1926, they have beenproducing impeccable fulled felt:pure wool fleece, softened in puremountain spring water exclusively, isthen squeezed and beaten in an original‚hammer‘ fulling machine until it‘sthick enough to be used for house-slippersof this kind of quality. The slippersare then rounded (from a single sectionof the wool felt), great care being takento avoid irritating inside projections thatare unfortunately quite common whenthey‘re made by hand. They are thenput on a last, dampened, pressed anddried, which gives them their final shape. The slight bulge at the toe makeswalking very pleasant, and the purewool felt ensures a pleasant, constantfoot temperature all year round.
The felt Wool is very easy to care for, as wool cleans itself in the air. If the felt should nevertheless be heavily soiled, it can be easily be cleaned by scrubbing with soapy water.
The felt slippers run somewhat small therefore, we suggest you to order one size larger than usual.
