    General Information

The first friend. For bathing, playing and teething

Duck Kawan - Kawan is the Malay word for friend - is not only the perfect companion in the bath, he accompanies your child everywhere without making a squeak, because Hevea's bath toys are made in one piece, without a hole in the bottom, so they don't squeak. Another, much more important advantage is that no mold can form inside them and no dirt can accumulate in the grooves. Made from soft, supple natural rubber and painted in pastel colors, the Kawan duck provides gentle tactile and visual stimulation and encourages grasping, but is also very comfortable for teething babies.

Scandinavian functional. Naturally good. Baby toys from Hevea

If environmentally friendly and harmless materials come first, design often takes a back seat. Terese Hoffeld also had to realize this when she was looking for toys for her two children that were made from renewable raw materials and at the same time well designed. The fact that the Danish-born Terese Hoffeld was used to the simple, beautiful, functional design of Scandinavia made the search more difficult, but also led her, instead of being annoyed by poor compromises, to found her own company without further ado. Under the name Hevea, she has been producing baby toys made of natural rubber since 2009 and has since been able to expand the range to include bathroom accessories & co. All her products continue to have one thing in common: they are timeless, simple and functional - and still look good.

    Natural rubber. Rubber from nature

Natural rubber is made from the sap of the rubber tree. Grown on large plantations in Southeast Asia and Central and South America, Hevea brasiliensis, its scientific name, grows over 30 meters high. The white sap, also known as (natural) latex, is obtained by cutting the bark at an angle and collecting the escaping "milk" in small vessels; it contains about one-third rubber. The tree stops producing latex at about 25 years of age, and its light-colored, medium-density wood, called "rubberwood," is then used in furniture making. As a tropical hardwood, it is harder than beech or oak wood, insensitive to moisture and therefore ideal for this sector.
Unlike synthetic, petroleum-based rubber, natural rubber can decompose and degrade naturally under the influence of sun, moisture and air. But even the production process can be environmentally friendly and carried out under fair working conditions - aspects that are just as important to the Danish company Hevea as producing baby toys that are absolutely harmless to health.
To ensure this, Hevea founder Terese Hoffeld herself regularly visits the Malaysian plantations and factories, because the products are manufactured where the rubber trees are grown - so not only can resources be saved, but jobs can also be created. During one of her stays there, Terese discovered a white duck made of rubber that had been accompanying the farmer's son for seven years. This provided the impetus to expand the product portfolio to include toys such as bath ducks, frogs and fish. Of course, the packaging material is also environmentally friendly - right down to the biodegradable film.

    Warning:

A small number of children is allergic to natural rubber. You should therefore watch out for allergic reactions and stop using the product if allergic reactions occur as a result of its use.
