The idea came from us many years ago: if the tried-and-tested Löwe anvil shears from Gebr. Schröder GmbH in Kiel were given an embossing, they would be easier to grip and even better than they are anyway. The 90th anniversary of the anvil shears was reason enough for the manufacturer, who looks back on over 150 years of company history, to issue its famous classic with an embossed vine pattern. Indeed, nothing slips there, the handles lie firmly in the hand, the work goes easily and well.
The principle of the anvil scissors.
So pretty, these scissors have never been, but so well they cut always. Their principle was developed in 1923 by Gebr. Schröder GmbH and consists not only in the combination of blade and support (just the anvil), but especially in the right combination of materials. While the blade must be very hard and capable of cutting, it is important for the anvil to be able to yield. Therefore, it is made of a softer alloy of aluminum and zinc. Anvil shears are, in principle, better suited for harder, woodier branches and twigs than for soft and moist ones. Therefore - and because it is technically superior to other shears for work that requires greater force - it is the typical shear for pruning.

The anvil shears have turned 90 , which for the manufacturer, who can look back on 145 years of company history, is a good occasion to issue his classic tool with a vine imprint. And with the handles firmly in the hand, the shears don't slip at all and the work is easier to do
The principle of the anvil shears.
These shears were never so pretty, but they cut well from the beginning. The principle behind them was developed in 1923 by Gebr. Schröder GmbH in Kiel. It is not just the combination of a blade and a base (the anvil), it's the right materials. The blade must be extermely hard and retain it's edge, but the anvil must have a little give. Therefore it is made of an aluminum and zinc alloy. Anvil shears are used to cut the harder, tougher branches and are suitable as a bypass pruner. Since they require less force and are technically superior to other shears, they are the shears of choice for pruning.
