    General Information

Purposeful, simple, robust - and used to be found in every kitchen in its dual function as a work and dining table. The table top made of solid beech wood is oiled, it requires only a simple basic care in use. A spacious and resilient drawer holds about the cutlery or useful household utensils. The kitchen table is made for us in the Saxon chairmaker town of Rabenau.

    One Table With Several Options.

We offer this kitchen table in two models. The first, in the spirit of work furniture, features an untreated table top, which is there to be used as a work surface and like all good tools shows all the marks that kitchen work leaves behind. The second features an oiled top, which lends the table a slightly more refined appearance, without inhibiting its use as utilitarian furniture. Both surfaces require straight forward basic care. Instructions for care are included with every delivery.

Craftsmanship from Rabenau. Traditional framework construction.

We’re reintroducing here an old, familiar kitchen table which can also be used as a dinner table or work table. A simple and robust table with a clearly identifiable purpose.
The table is made in workshops in the Saxon chair making town of Rabenau just for us. They’re made by hand from beechwood. The table top is attached to the white painted frame with slotted brackets, which allows the wood to "work" without tension. The table top is made of layers of beechwood of different widths, an indication that the wood has been processed as it comes from the tree. The edges of the legs are rounded off, making them immune to impact.
The table has a spacious and especially rugged drawer mounted in the traditional way on a batten and running groove and features a double layered face.

    Kitchen furniture. The table.

A rose is a rose , according to Gertrude Stein, so, a table is a table. But a kitchen table is always a player in the shifts of culture, moving between two poles: the earlier peasant kitchen with an open fireplace and the first compact built-in kitchens which appeared in Germany at the end of the 1920s under the rubric of the "Frankfurt Kitchen", which tried to redefine the work steps in the kitchen, with simply no space for a dining room or work table. The circle has closed today with the reappearance of roomier kitchens in which a simple evening meal can be prepared in style.
