Ladies shoulder bag

With its half-moon shape, this bag is somewhat reminiscent of the body bags that are currently popular for cross-body wear. However, the material used makes it something special: O My Bag uses so-called soft grain leather, a strong yet incredibly supple cowhide that still shows its natural grain. Typically, the surface remains natural and has a slightly textured surface. With time and use, the vegetable-tanned leather will also develop an individual patina and take on the marks of everyday life such as scratches and the like. The open leather edges of the shoulder straps are quilted in saddle stitch and carefully sanded, polished and waxed. Like all bags from O My Bag, this one is lined with the distinctive blue and white striped twill, in this case made from pure organic cotton. The main compartment has a zipped pocket and a slip pocket, but is not subdivided further. It closes with a zipper, which is additionally reinforced with leather.

Support Trade, Not Aid. These words, heard by Paulien Wesselink during her studies, would one day be the basis for her bag brand O My Bag. Since 2011, the philosophy behind her company has been based on principles that are as simple as they are ambitious: to create beautiful bags that are made with respect for the environment and people. But this does not only apply to O My Bag. The Amsterdam-based label works exclusively with companies that follow the same principles. Production takes place in Kolkata, India - a conscious decision to offer local producers and their families fair wages and access to the global market. The design is created in Amsterdam.
The bags from O My Bag are characterized by a clear, functional style that is timelessly contemporary and corresponds to the durability of the material from which they are made: high-quality, vegetable-tanned leather. For Paulien Wesselink, leather is still the most sustainable option due to its low environmental impact when tanned and dyed in an eco-friendly way. In addition, GOTS-certified cotton is used, but the label is also open-minded about innovative, environmentally friendly materials: since 2021, O my Bag has been making bags and purses from AppleSkin™, a vegan leather alternative.
