The use of two different types of leather makes this shoulder bag special in two ways. On the one hand, it is an eye-catcher due to the two-tone color and the wide, circumferential closure strap with the large clasp, and on the other hand, it is absolutely soft on the hand, because glove-soft, supple deerskin is used for the front and the flap. With its velour-like surface, it is one of the finest leathers, yet it is extraordinarily tear-resistant and durable, making it very long-lasting, and like all other leathers, it develops an individual patina with use. Since this is less noticeable in dark smooth leather, the parts of the bag that are subjected to greater wear (back, carrying and closure straps) are made of black dyed cowhide. The soft, pleasantly wide shoulder strap is set at an angle, which increases fit and comfort.

The shoulder bag is lined with soft, cream-colored pigskin. A zippered compartment and two slip pockets provide space for small items. A leather strap with carabiner ensures that you have your keys quickly at hand - a nice detail that we no longer want to miss. The bag is made by the Lüneburg bag manufacturer Ackermann.

Since the 1980s, the leather manufacturer Ackermann has stood for handcrafted and resource-conserving production. Ackermann uses exclusively high-quality leathers tanned in German or European tanneries with minerals, vegetable substances or ingredients of animal origin (for example, fish oil for tanning deerskin). Beate Sedlacek and Karl-Henning Hohmann create the designs – the Bauhaus says hello – primarily based on an idea of functionality while reflecting on the characteristics of the respective leather and its surface. The resulting design is timeless, dispenses with superfluous details and features a clear cut in which every seam has its functional artisanal justification. Therefore, the leather can show all its strengths, including its visual and haptic qualities. Experienced sewists implement the designs in the best bag-making manner. Ackermann manufactures most of the articles at its headquarters in Lüneburg and has certain product lines made in a Czech partner company.

The chamois tanning of deerskin is one of those old, complicated tanning processes that produce leather of unrivaled beauty and durability. Chamois tanned deerskin is glove-soft, almost cloth-like, woolly to the touch and breathable. The old process of chamois tanning is very time-consuming and takes almost a whole year. Leather from domestic red deer is used. The transformation of the protein fibres of the hide into leather fibres is based on the oxidation of animal fats and trane, which are incorporated between the fibres. In this case, it is pure codfish oil that is driven into the leather with the help of heavy, water-powered wooden hammers. It is then sanded by hand, smoothed and dyed with natural dyes made from blue, red or yellow wood.

Slight colour variations are natural and prove the authenticity of the material.
