Classical light carriers - not only in the Advent season. The tradition of ceramic light houses, especially widespread in Scandinavia, gets a new look with these Objekten of different sizes. The uni-colored, matt glazed objects represent archetypes of modern architecture and are reminiscent of buildings by Shigeru Ban. Due to the translucency of the ceramic material, the houses light up completely as soon as they are equipped with a tea light.
175 Years of Handcrafted Ceramics.
For more than 175 years, the traditional Danish brand Kähler has stood for handcrafted ceramics and high-quality arts and crafts. The origins of the Danish understanding of architecture and design with its clear focus on quality are rooted here. The Kähler company made during more than 130 years a habit out of taking the most famous artists of the time under its wings. With the 4th generation of the Kähler family, the history of the company as a family business ended in 1974. In 2008, the architect Frantz Longhi took over and started a new phase for the Kähler brand. Just a part of the production comes about in the company’s ceramic workshops today; however, the brand has maintained its focus on contemporary design and ceramic handicraft tradition.
