Fine linen is crafted here into an extra-lightweight fabric. The small amount of cotton is provided by the woven-in black stripes made of dyed cotton yarn. Thanks to its light weight, the cloth is supple and therefore also ideal for tall, slender champagne and wine glasses. The linen cloth dries very well, is durable, and lint-free; above all, it does not cling to the glass surface, as is often the case with cotton cloths.

Leinenweberei Hoffmann has been manufacturing linen glass cloths like this one since 1905, maintaining the same high quality throughout. Only linen yarn of European origin is used, as this is the only way to guarantee the quality and outstanding properties of the linen. European long-staple flax is also used to make this glass cloth.

Upper Lusatia is one of the European textile regions with a long tradition of linen weaving. The Leinenweberei Hoffmann is one of the few companies to have survived there to this day, thanks to the wealth of experience it has accumulated and cultivated and its comparatively early specialization in jacquard weaving and embroidery. With nationalization in the 1970s, individuality and the production of pure linen declined noticeably. It was not until the company was reprivatized in 1994 that it was able to resume work on the old looms and thus continue the tradition of Oberlausitz linen. The company has been weaving and manufacturing at its headquarters in Neukirch in Lusatia since 1905.
