Sometimes a good thing forms the prelude to a small product series. Here it was our Weekender from bull leather, which enjoyed in a very short time so much popularity that the Feinäschnerei Hammann now manufactures especially for us also the matching toilet bag and this manicure case. We have it equipped with manicure instruments from the traditional Solingen company Dreiturm. You can get the case only at Manufactum.

Strong piece: manicure case made of bull leather. By Hammann

This manicure case is made by Hammann from strong bull leather and completes a small series of travel accessories - weekender, toiletry bag and watch case - which are also made of this extraordinary leather and in the same way (and of course available from us). Only the best bull hides of southern German and Austrian origin are used for the leather, which is vegetable tanned and aniline dyed in Italy. The pigments penetrate deep into the leather so that its natural surface remains visible and a beautiful patina can form over time. Inside the manicure case is lined with soft sheepskin, the instrument receptacles are made of bull leather.

Made in Solingen. Manicure instruments from Dreiturm

Equipped the case with manicure instruments from the cutlery specialist Dreiturm. The Solingen-based manufacturer has remained true to traditional craftsmanship to this day and still produces mostly by hand. With good reason: most operations require care, time and, above all, a great deal of intuition and experience - which no computer can replace. This has its price, but it pays off, because the cutlery works precisely and is designed for long durability. The instruments in the case are made of satin-finished stainless steel and are partially drop-forged. Each one is carefully inspected for quality and sharpness before it leaves the house. Included are cuticle scissors, nail scissors, tweezers with a slanted tip, a sapphire file with a fine and a coarser side, and a double instrument with cuticle pusher and nail cleaner.
The Maul of the tweezers is finely ground and grips very well. With the slanted tip, fine hairs can be grasped well and even coarse splinters can be removed. The nail file is formed from one piece, which guarantees a very stable connection of handle and blade. The handle is slightly more voluminous than the blade of the file and thus lies well in the hand. The blade itself is sapphire coated (a very durable coating), has a coarse and a fine side and a smooth, polished tip. The double instrument is crafted with an ergonomic handle, it has a fine tip cleaner and a round shaped cuticle pusher to gently correct the skin. Both ends are polished smooth, so they are easy to clean and hygienic to use. The manicure instruments are suitable for both right and left-handed users.

Finest Leather Goods by F. Hammann, Offenbach.

The “Fine leather goods factory” Franz Hammann based in Offenbach (one of the German centres of leather goods manufacturing) is one of the oldest leather manufacturers in Germany. The family-owned company has been producing high-quality leather goods and travel accessories for five generations. The Hessian leather goods are as sophisticated as they are durable; some models require the use of old special machines. Hammann has decades-old experience in leather crafts, especially in producing leather bags and cases complete with frames and handles. Precise workmanship and high-quality materials play an even more significant role here than in leather crafts anyway. To ensure the quality of its leather products, Hammann produces at its headquarters (and has done so since 1864) while processing exclusively full-grain leather of European origin. Locks and fittings are made in Germany. Here too, the details make the difference: all locks and fittings are milled from solid brass and alloy steel and get polished by hand. You might recognize the mirror-bright surfaces featuring a shine that “drum-polished sheet metal parts” could never give off.
