Bay Rum is an old apothecary specialty, and as such a regular multi-purpose remedy, which European pharmacopoeias from the 19th century recommended mainly for the care of skin and hair, as well as after shaving, and which was used both as a hair tonic, aftershave and facial tonic, as well as a bath additive or body lotion after sports.
