    General Information

Self-adhesive memory relief. In notepad style

Hardly anything is as practical in the everyday lives of more or less forgetful people as self-adhesive sticky notes. For temporary memory relief, they can be stuck in clearly visible places to remind people of tasks (call the garage) or purchases (wine, bread, cheese, coffee). While some people use them to remind themselves of the day's to-dos and stick them to their desks and computer screens, others use them for analog Kanban boards. In books they serve as bookmarks, and on mirrors or doors they convey greetings, kisses and the like. Despite the practical use of these sticky notes, we are often bothered by the alarmist attitude with which most sticky notes come across. These fine sticky notes from Japanese manufacturer Midori are therefore a real desideratum and a rarity. In a practical A7 format, they are made from a paper that is both usable and (this is rare) very attractive: ink-resistant, subtly chamois-colored and, with their smooth surface, a pleasure to write on as well as to the touch. A cover protects the head-glued, dimensionally stable pad, which is therefore also good to use on the go. In addition to the blank version - which is also rare - there are two rulings to choose from: with a dot grid or a frame to indicate the date. The two centimeter wide adhesive edge ensures secure adhesion.

Not for Representational Purposes Only. A Paper for Joy in Everyday Life.

The outstanding characteristics and undisputed extraordinarily high quality of Japanese stationery have partly to do with the fact that Japanese writing is difficult to mechanise on a typewriter. The first typewriters were introduced at the beginning of the last century. In addition to Japanese syllable writing the Chinese characters called “Kanji” are common in Japan. The Kanji prove to be exceptionally difficult to reproduce. Until the introduction of the personal computer in the office, it was customary therefore to write business correspondence by hand, and one used the best stationery available to leave a good impression. The passion for extraordinary stationery has survived in Japan even if it is not used for official correspondence anymore. For daily notes, a paper like the lined note paper offered here is put to use. It‘s thread-sewn and features a spine reinforced with black and gold embossed spine tape. An obscure, if amusing side remark: By printing “containing best-ruled foolscap” the Japanese manufacturer came a cropper. Because none of these notebooks is in foolscap, the traditional Anglo-Saxon paper format somewhat larger than DIN A4.
