"German leather" is not actually leather but a cotton moleskin – a fabric made of exceptionally strong warp yarn and a high density of weft yarn in a satin-atlas weave. It has a smooth, slightly shiny surface and is virtually indestructible – which is why it was once used primarily for workwear and protective clothing. Here it appears in the form of an overcoat with sewn-on shoulder flaps. Unusually, it is not done up with buttons but with a two-way metal zip fastener by RiRi, which is concealed under a flap. The coat also features a button-up storm flap. A back slit enhances wearing comfort.
