The outer fabric of this jacket is a densely woven cotton that is not only smooth but also moderately water-repellent, as its fibers swell upon contact with moisture, making the fabric even denser. The jacket also offers protection from wind and cold. The body and collar are lined with a voluminous, warm teddy fleece. The sleeves are padded with virgin wool and lined with cupro, a smooth and silky regenerated fiber made from cotton cellulose, which makes the jacket easier to put on and take off. Internal knit cuffs on the sleeves provide a snug fit and keep the wind out. The jacket fastens with a distinctive two-way brass zipper, covered by a wide buttoned placket. Two side pockets and an interior pocket with a vertical zipper provide storage for small everyday items. Additional details include a hood with a peak and two drawstrings, a drawstring at the hem, and ventilation eyelets under the armpits.
