Here is a shoe that combines the characteristics of two styles renowned for their comfort: the desert boot and the moccasin—which is why Astorflex calls it the Desert Moc. First, there’s the upper material: soft calf suede from master tanneries in Tuscany that molds a little more to the foot with every hour of wear. Then there’s the sturdy yet soft natural rubber crepe sole, which cushions each step and ensures a springy stride. The padded, removable insole—which can be replaced with your own insoles if needed—further enhances this effect. And thanks to the so-called “Idealnaht” along the edge of the sole, a hallmark of Astorflex quality, the shoe is not only extremely flexible but also durable. The mid-height shaft and open lacing with three pairs of eyelets are also inspired by the desert boot, while the distinctive moccasin seam gives the shoe a distinctive look.

The beginnings of Astorflex date back to the 19th century. After the First World War, the descendants of the shoemaking family founded the company "Fratelli Travenzoli" in Castel d'Ario, a small shoemaking town in the province of Mantua (Lombardy). From then on, the Travenzolis specialized in making shoes using the "ideal method", in which a visible seam joins the upper material to the insole, making the shoes particularly flexible, hard-wearing and durable. Today, the fate of Astorflex lies in the hands of Fabio Travenzoli, who consistently uses high-quality natural materials in production. First-class Italian leather is used for the uppers, in particular from master tanneries in Tuscany. The lining and insoles are made of soft calfskin, vegetable-tanned in a decoction of oak bark and mimosa. The outsoles are mainly made of natural rubber and only water-based adhesives are used. Astorflex has dedicated itself entirely to "good shoes", as the addition "La scarpa buona" in the shoe manufacturer's logo promises.
