Honest skin. Slick jacket.
Made of regional cowhide, this jacket is influenced by the motorcycle clothing of the 1960s and made by Hack in Cologne. The 1 mm thick leather comes from the Taunus region in Hesse, where it is traditionally tanned using only vegetable tanning agents. Traces of the animal’s life (rips from thorns, punctures) are intentionally not sprayed with dye and covered during the drum dyeing. The jacket extends over the buttocks. Inverted pleats on the side below the back yoke provide extra mobility of the shoulders when leaning forward, an advantage, even if you don’t ride a motorcycle. The strap on the back enables adjustment of the waist so the jacket can be worn as tightly as desired. Two diagonal piped pockets are incorporated in the lower front. The right chest pocket is worked into the dividing seam of the shoulder yoke and can be closed with a zipper. The jacket is closed with a two-way zipper made by RiRi of Switzerland and an underlying panel provides wind protection. Sturdy cotton twill serves as the body lining and in the sleeves, strong viscose serge enables the jacket to be slipped on and off easily.
Hack. Leather Goods with Character.
Behind Hack Lederware you find Christoph Hack, founder and fine bag maker with a studio in Cologne. For decades he has been working with a wide variety of leathers. Based on this experience, he designs his garments. For example, Hack exclusively processes leather with natural surfaces from Germany, Italy and Scandinavia into hard-wearing, functional clothing and genuine accessories. This is why the selected skins from cow, horse and deer document traces of animal life such as insect bites or thorny cracks. Such a leather gains it’s much-desired patina by movement and frequent wearing and proves a magnificent example of what happens when a leather garment is allowed to age with honour. It is this natural ageing process that gives Hack jackets their unique look. They are made up at the Hack headquarters in Cologne and a Polish partner company.
