Paper glue Coccoina

The can emits a pleasant scent of bitter almond, which will remind older users of the corresponding German product, the formerly widely used "Pelikanol". Since the 1920s, these practical all-purpose glues for office and household use have been made on the basis of potato starch, and in Italy one of them has survived as "Colla bianca solida per ufficio moderno". Especially nice: the tin has a small tube in the middle, which contains a brush to apply the glue.

Who has once one of these tins as a result of too high esteem kept unopened for quite a few years in the closet, had to take note that the mass gradually dries out to hard crumbs. This is no reason to despair, because the glue can be easily regenerated: simply let it swell overnight in the same amount of water, then heat it briefly and pour this mass back into the can. It then sticks (and smells) like new again.
