Authentic in both material and craftsmanship, these straight-cut jeans feature a high waistband. Their origins lie in the United States of the early 1930s, a time when denim pants were exclusively workwear. This is not only visible but also palpable: At first, the raw denim feels rough, almost stiff. It is woven on old shuttle looms; the visible selvedges are a testament to its origins. It goes without saying that jeans like these require a break-in period.

In terms of cut, the pants feature all the details of their era. In addition to belt loops, they have rivet buttons for attaching suspenders and the “cinch back strap”—the adjustable strap on the back waistband for regulating the fit. This was necessary because the selection of sizes was much smaller back then—if the pants were too loose, you simply tightened the “belt.” The same applied to the length: if the pant legs were too long, you just rolled them up a bit.

The Pike Brothers label from Bad Feilnbach in Upper Bavaria proves with garments inspired by textiles from the world of workwear that form and functionality are not mutually exclusive. While creative minds in other companies have to work out their cuts, the Pike Brothers collect, dissect and finally reconstruct historical originals from a wide variety of workspaces. Different material requirements and cuts are taken into account on a one-for-one basis. Fabrics are reissued in collaboration with traditional weaving mills. Finally, the Pike Brothers have the garments made by hand from selected European tailors. The resulting products tell a story by dint of their appearance. Moreover, they are proving themselves in practice, just like their historical role models did, to be highly functional and to offer the highest comfort – no matter what the activity.

The garment may rub off onto light-coloured materials such as other garments, furniture and upholstery fabrics.
