Pillow Case Check Pattern
A check bedding as you would imagine: The checks are not printed, but properly woven from yarn-dyed cotton. The colors thus retain their intensity much longer. The traditional weaving mill Vieböck produces this bed linen especially for Manufactum and equips it (not as a matter of course) with twisted buttons.
Durable Cotton. Checkered Woven in Austria.
The weaving mill Vieböck in the Mühlviertel creates the check pattern for this bedding from red- and blue-dyed cotton yarn. Then follows a prewash, and Vieböck calenders the plain weave fabric; in a purely mechanical process, it passes between rollers for additional compactness and develops its pleasant suppleness.
Woven goods from Upper Austria: known for centuries.
As early as around 1600, the good reputation of the Mühlviertel weaving trade was established and in many communities half of the inhabitants earned their income with weaving or its secondary occupations. The raw material used by the weavers was flax, which was widely grown in the Mühlviertel at that time. The weaving products were one of the most important export articles of Upper Austria at that time. Since about 1700, strict quality and control regulations have ensured that high quality standards are maintained. Standards to which the weaving mill that produces this bed linen for us still works today.
The yarn count is given in Nm (metric number), the higher the number, the finer the yarn. A yarn count of Nm 100 means that 100 meters of a yarn weigh 1 gram. An additional digit is added if the yarn is twisted from several single yarns, for example Nm 100/3 for a yarn from three single yarns.
