This coat combines modern chic with high functionality. Just like the lining and the filling, the outer fabric is made entirely from recycled polyester. The filling is PrimaLoft®, a down-like material that insulates effectively against the cold and is feather-light and water-repellent. Outwardly positioned cross-stitched seams ensure that the warming filling stays in place permanently. The dense outer fabric, the large hood with drawstring, the two-way zipper that closes high up to the chin and elasticated cuffs provide good protection against wind and weather. Two zippered slit pockets and two inside pockets with Velcro fasteners offer plenty of space for small everyday items.

Spanish designer Javier Goyeneche has found his own way to combat raw material waste. Since 2012, his label Ecoalf has been producing fashion made from recycled fibers. A key project is “Upcycling the Oceans,” founded in 2015, in which more than 4,000 fishermen and fisherwomen from Spain, Thailand, Greece, Italy, France, and Egypt now recover plastic waste from the ocean. This waste is transformed into yarn, which is then used to create clothing, shoes, and accessories. In addition, Ecoalf is also involved in recycling textile fibers, specifically cotton and wool—and finally, Ecoalf has also mastered the challenge of repurposing old car tires as outsoles for shoes.
