General Information
For consumables such as household and kitchen yarn, plastic is often used, although cheaper and very durable, therefore not very environmentally friendly. We think there is an excellent alternative, which is also much prettier and therefore more versatile: we have our household yarn made from pure linen, which is enormously tear-resistant and durable thanks to the six-ply twisting.
Two-Coloured Yarn Made of Pure Linen.
This pure linen yarn was formerly used to hang the sausage from the butcher's hook. Each of the twisted two coloured yarns helped the butcher and his journeymen to distinguish the sausages depending on the colour combinations. In the meantime, the cheaper plastic threads have replaced the natural ones in the butcher's shop. We have our linen yarn manufactured in a twisting mill in Lower Saxony from pure linen in three colour combinations. It can also be used for gift wrapping from controlled biological cultivation.
